mysticwolf75 A very promising beginning to a long and successful journey into the sound current, continuing to this day! Cloud Motion was ahead of it's time, always wished there was a longer version! Love those early synth sounds - it just can't be duplicated on modern synths. Favorite track: Cloud Motion.

Krisztian Hofstadter ... music from 1982 that can take you home, into your own presence... Favorite track: The Ritual Continues.

[Steve Roach's 1st album]
[6 Tr. - 36m50s]
[Prior album "Moebius" (1979) with, among others, Bryce Robbley on vocals & synths and Evan Kaplan on drums - Out of stock]
[Dynamic: Trs. 1, 4, 6]
[Deep: Trs. 2, 3, 5]

The first Steve Roach, a short and well balanced album which predicts a HUGE soundcurrent travel along the years, time and space. NOW is always updated, the same happens with Roach's timeless wonderful music. Favorite track: Growth Sequence.

Gareth Worth it for the gorgeous analogue synths alone! Not as polished as later releases but good fun.

rikm Offering a glimpse into the early days of Steve Roach's career, these early Soundscape explorations and journeys through aural landscapes set the blueprint for much of Roach's later work to come, and as such they hold a particular place in my heart for their foundational nature...

about

NAME YOUR PRICE SPECIAL - JUNE 2017
From the time of BC, before computers, internet, social media, midi, digital synthesizers and all things tech we take for granted today, The home studio and a few synthesizers were just becoming an affordable option. It was all analog, all the time. Completly hands on and created from the live spirit of drawing from the moment.
NOW (1982) is Roach's first solo release. Self produced and released on cassette though indicative of a marked Germanic influence (though decidedly more Klaus Schulze than Tangerine Dream), revealed the young Steve Roach as a synthesist of limitless imagination and broad compositional depth. The thrust of his synthesized matrices evinces realms of austere beauty, worlds yet to be explored, topographies hosting civilizations caught between the rugged girth of the past and the brilliance of a better future. Ideally, allow this music to simply flow over and through you: "Growth Sequence" hurtles the participant into an Escher maze of reflective sequencer tapestries; "Cloud Motion" is a gorgeous piece of ambient expressionism that hint at the future (STRUCTURES FROM SILENCE, QUIET MUSIC); This is the first document of Roach's qualitative talent blooming outwards to an unsuspecting world – a harbinger of things to come.
